I...........HATE.........laundry. There - I said it....what a load off my shoulders. No matter how hard I try and keep up with it, the laundry always gets ahead of me somehow.
I used to have a "laundry table" in the basement. Meaning that when I emptied the dryer, the clothes all went onto the table.
In the fall, hubby walled off the laundry area to make a playroom/laundry room so that I could contain the kids down there when I was doing laundry, in an effort to help make things easier and allow me to stay on top of it. Well, the kids LOVE it down there - but, they don't let me stay on top of the laundry. IF I happen to get it folded and put into a basket, Kyle comes along and dumps it all out in his attempt to help me.....and since I lost my laundry table when the renovation occurred, the clothes now sit on the floor (it's clean - promise) so I have a pile beside the washing machine that is dirty and needs to be washed, and a pile beside the dryer that is clean and needs to be folded and put away.
So - my secret is out. Now, I can be held accountable for staying on top of it. I am going to show you a picture of my laundry room - which I will take every Sunday and hopefully there will be some progress....so, here it is - please don't think too badly of me.........
the "need to be cleaned pile" - pretty caught up |
the "clean" pile - - needs A LOT of work |
Let me just say, your laundry room looks better than mine, a LOT Better. I have way more laundry to do, baskets of clothes to be put away upstairs, plus the whole laundry area is dirty and gross but I can't clean it because I can't find it under the laundry. I also have empty laundry soap and such containers laying around. Can't believe I'm admitting all this... Oh yeah and I sometimes find laundry from a completely different season when I do a bunch of loads and try to make a dent.
ReplyDeleteWell, in my laundry sink is empty tide boxes - your not alone there....I also find laundry from different seasons.
Deletethanks for helping me feel not alone!
The key to me loving laundry is that I have awesome machines that help me get caught up. I am getting my boys to match the socks, and put their own laundry away (the older ones are 5, and newly 4).
ReplyDeleteI have tried having my oldest (almost 5) help - but he ends up making it more work for me......
DeleteThis is funny because I just tried to tidy up my laundry room this weekend - I have a bit more space to work/walk now.
ReplyDeleteI hate laundry too! I have changed up my routine to try to make it better for me - everyone has a laundry day!
These pictures were taken after spending a little time down there yesterday...normally, it is much worse
DeleteHere's what I do (when I am on top of the game). Laundry in the wash. Laundry in the dryer. Fold right out of the dryer into a basket and take it upstairs.
ReplyDeleteI found doing 1 load at a time means that I don't leave any in the washer (OH SNAP! THAT REMINDS ME! LOL) and folding it right out of the dryer means that I don't have an extra "won't get done" step.
Laundry is the bane of far too many existences. boo.
It's funny you say that - I will OFTEN forget that there is a load in the wash, and by the time I remember it needs to be re-washed....
DeleteYour routine is the same as what I *attempt* to do, but something always seems to get in the way
I hate laundry too. Folding is the worst part. I have 3 laundry baskets filled with clean clothes waiting to be folded.
ReplyDeleteyes - the folding and putting away is what kills me....
DeleteI think we can all relate to hating laundry - I loath it. It never ends! When you think you've got the important washed, folded and put away you realize everyone has already made up another basket to wash!!! My son tries to "help" too - oh he tries ;) lol
ReplyDeletesomeone needs to invent clothes that don't get dirty or smelly....then laundry wouldn't be a problem
Deletelaundry isn't too bad here..the mr is good at doing the washing/drying, then i nag him to bring it to me to fold! lol
ReplyDeleteha - I am not actually sure how laundry evolved into me doing it...we used to each do our own
DeleteI don't actually mind doing the laundry but hate folding and putting away...
ReplyDeletethat seems to be the biggest pet peeve about it
DeleteOh I'm so there with you, I absolutely hate laundry! It's one of those things on my TO DO List that just never goes away. As we speak I have four loads I need to fold today and put away from this weekend. I wish there was a machine that could fold and put away, then maybe I wouldn't hate it so much, lol.
ReplyDeleteI keep threatening to start "Naked Day" around here so that for just one day, every single piece of clothing can be clean and put away....
ReplyDeleteOMG me too! It's my weekly nightmare! I cannot find a system to work for me! Pst... your laundry room looks AWESOME (compared to mine) but I will not be sharing that pic! LOL
ReplyDeleteBwa ha ha! Laundry I'm actually pretty okay with, but replace that washing machine with a sink and the piles of clothes with piles of dirty dishes and you've got my arch nemesis...;)
ReplyDeleteOh you are SO not alone. The only difference here is the laundry is piled in various baskets and bins spread throughout the house. That cat's litte box is right next to the drier. I am so not piling clean clothes next to cat poop.
