Tag Along Toys is my very first stop when I am looking for a gift and unsure of what to buy. They know their product, and they know what is hot. All you need to do is tell them the age you are buying for, and they are sure to find something that will be a hit with the gift recipient. If you are looking for something specific and they don't have it, they will try to bring it in for you.
Tag Along Toys is stocked full of craft supplies, board games, science kits, books, puzzles and so much more. If you haven't had a chance to drop in, you really should plan a visit.
Not only do they sell toys and the like, but they also host craft workshops and have even started a Rainbow Loom club on Thursday evenings. The last Thursday of every month Grandparents can save 20% off any in stock items they purchase; to show their appreciation, teachers are offered a 10% discount everyday!
With family day coming up in a few weeks (February 17th) Patti thought it would be a great time for a giveaway! She sent me home with a craft box and 3 games (all with different age recommendations, so there is something for everyone in the family).
What better way to spend Family Day than sitting around the table together crafting and playing games (especially if our latest weather pattern holds and the temperature stays in the -30's!). We had a chance this past weekend to get the craft kit out - the boys each got to make one craft.
ready, set, paste comes with 8 crafts (each in their own individual bags) to choose from and a chunky glue stick to help. Some of them are as simple as gluing paper fruit pieces onto a backdrop of a bowl, and others include scrunching up tissue paper to decorate the background pieces (tree, butterfly).
My 3 yr old is still lacking in co-ordination, so I was happy that they had easy ones to choose from - he chose one that just needed different shapes to be poked out and glued onto a black back drop.
Mr. J chose a tree that you glue scrunched up tissue paper on for leaves, and then it came with apple stickers, squirrel stickers and dots to use as a frame!

For the game, the inside of the box has an image of a tree - you drop the acorns on and around the tree, and then there is a spinning wheel with different options. Whatever you land on, is either how many acorns or what colour you pick up. You use the Squirrel pincher to pick up the acorns and place them in your tree trunk. It's a great game for little ones because there aren't a ton of rules to follow. It works on fine motor skills (squeezing the squirrel) and matching (picking the right colour and matching it to the right spot).

I love the idea of the squirrel game. It would help my son further develop his motor skills...just what he needs!

ReplyDeleteWe try to get outside as a family and do something fun. Now that my daughter is mobile, it should be a fun time. Perhaps some sledding this year.
ReplyDeleteFamily day is Sunday and we spend it unplugged. We start with Pancakes for breakfast, followed by a walk and end with a Movie. Everyone looks forward to it all week.

Depending on the weather we usually will go tobogganing and play games after while enjoying some hot chocolate followed by a movie.
