Apple Picking - Favourite Family Activity


I have to admit that while back to school time is hard for me, September is actually one of my favourite months.  Not only is it my birthday (yay for birthdays) but it's APPLE PICKING season. One of my absolute favourite things to do with hubby and the kids is go apple picking.

We have an orchard that we always go to. It's about 40 minutes away, but it's worth the drive.  Lots of FREE activities to do with the kids.  Parking and admission to the orchard are free, the only things you pay for are your purchases.

There is a wagon ride from the parking lot to the orchard (or you can walk it, not super far) they have picnic tables set up if you want to bring a lunch with you, a short nature trail, tether ball. There is a hay jump, corn maze (we haven't done that yet) and a little market with all sorts of apple goodies. The apple cider doughnuts alone make the drive worth it.

The kids love using hubby's shoulders as a ladder to get the apples way up high


We always have a great time when we go.  This year the macs are a little more sour than normal, but still delicious and great for baking.

    I love this time of year! Can't wait for picking apples here, and the visits to the pumpkin patch!

    We don't have apple picking here, but I have an apple tree and get a fair amount of apples, that is if we don't get bad hails during the summer.
